Why Equal Representation in Governance Matters

The way people are governed has to ensure that the interests of all people  are taken into account. It is very important that people are involved in how the authority in place runs their affairs. Representation sees different issues come to play such as equal gender representation and the minorities as well. When different people with varying defining aspects exercise understanding and empathy for each other from leadership to the citizens, the society will make progress that reflects equity. Today thanks to technology and factors like integration of cultures, people come up with ways of making their voices heard  in more   ways  than the constitution has provided.

There are many benefits that come with equal representation of people as well.Putting the benefits into categories are not that easy because they cut across many aspects of people's lives. Every corner of the globe is working tirelessly for sustainable development in different areas of the citizens' lives, for this to materialize   the involvement of all stakeholders   has to be there. Good conflict resolution is a characteristic of a community that has equal public representation in public affairs.

When it comes to development, people want to see their most pressing issues   being addressed and hence the need to involve the electorate in key stages of the projects. Project opposition is to be expected in democratic environments where  equal representation has not  been factored  in. If the decisions making process  will have all people equally represented, making alterations to what is arrived at will be easy in comparison to later in the process when it costs money and time  for even small decisions.   The government that is democratically elected needs to serve all people and  not exercise favor to those that voted  their way only. Many organizations have been founded that work from the grassroots   by building networks and support to push their ideas of leadership from the ground up. They will fund campaigns for their preferred candidates  from the primaries. Their idea is to win the grounds and make it easier to win at the nationals. The  voters are the people  to bring about the desired change, engaging with them on a  regular basis will ensure that they feel relevant  and take interests in the parts they have to play in the  process.
